Rotterdam doors find their way to the Central Market Hall

In the spirit of sustainability and the reuse of old materials, around 250 doors from the former Zuiderziekenhuis in Rotterdam have been transported to the Central Market Hall. They will be used to fill existing openings in the façade and for other creative solutions such as flooring or wall covering.

Before the doors could be transported, all the doorknobs had to be removed. It may sound like a simple task, but most of them had been firmly attached for years. Some of these knobs will also be reused in Amsterdam. Reusing materials in this way requires careful consideration beforehand to determine their potential uses. After all, throwing them away is always an option, but that would be a waste!
