The Centrale Markthal during the Second World War
Jewish market traders and the resistance efforts originating from the Central Market.
The Amsterdam 4 and 5 May Committee recently approached us to organize a gathering in the Centrale Markthal. It will focus on the Centrale Markthal during the Second World War, with particular attention to the Jewish market traders and the resistance efforts originating from the Central Market.
Stories will be shared about Jewish life and resistance during the Second World War. The intimate atmosphere in which they will engage the audience with these stories will make this gathering special and will certainly contribute to passing on forgotten and unknown histories to a new generation of fellow citizens.
In this way, we become part of the May 4 commemoration, and we are pleased that our history will be told on this important day. The commemoration will take place in the afternoon, and the memorial monument will also be unveiled and reinstated.
