During the restoration, BOEi aims to facilitate meaningful and accessible initiatives to introduce Amsterdam residents to this building. The Centrale Markthal is located in the midst of several Amsterdam neighborhoods (Bos en Lommer, Staatsliedenbuurt, Landlust) characterized by a broad and diverse composition. Many of these neighbors have never seen the inside of this beautiful building. With a diverse and inclusive program, we want to give them a first glimpse into the future.
While awaiting a definitive new purpose, the Centrale Markthal is also available for events that align well with the historical function of the Centrale Markthal.
In 2014, after years of vacancy, the Centrale Markthal made a glorious comeback with a performance by the Nederlands Dans Theater during the Holland Festival. In addition to cultural performances, this industrial heritage offers ample space for initiatives in the realm of food and drink, such as the Bacchus Wine Festival, Diner en Blanc, and the Market of 1001 Flavors. Companies rent the Centrale Markthal for events and staff parties due to its raw, industrial character and vast floor space.
One of the first users of the Centrale Markthal is MarktCentraal. They organize, among other things, MarktMaal; a meal for and by neighbors, suitable for every budget.

THE EVENT LOCATION FOR FOOD
The Centrale Markthal is a unique event location for food-related events. Festivals around wines and foods, food trucks, large-scale dinners, or product launches, the possibilities are numerous!

Diner en Blanc is een feestelijke ontmoeting voor vrienden en vrienden van vrienden die samen de zomer en het leven vieren, geheel in het wit gekleed. Ieder jaar wordt deze elegante en culinaire ‘pop-up picknick’ op een andere – altijd bijzondere – plek gehouden. Diner en Blanc Nederland vierde op 25 augustus 2018 haar 10e jubileum editie in De Centrale Markthal te Amsterdam. Zie www.dinerenblanc.nu.
