Research on paternoster lifts
The Central Market Hall houses two of Amsterdam's total of about 5 remaining paternoster lifts. For decades they have been idle. The two lift engineers who last worked on them 38 years ago recently took another look.
If it manages to find funding, BOEi wants to, perhaps, get one of the two lifts working again. The lift would then be given a museum function, as use of this type of lift has been prohibited by law for decades due to the high risks. See also the blog by our historian Kim Heuvelmans.
