INTRODUCING: FINCH BUILDINGS
Finch Buildings is building today with an eye on the future.
Finch Buildings designs wooden housing modules for multi-story construction, enabling faster, better, more affordable, and more sustainable building in this time of climate crisis and housing shortage. Finch Buildings is building today with an eye on the future. The name is inspired by Darwin’s discovery of the finch on the Galapagos Islands. Like this adaptable bird species, the homes are designed to flexibly adapt to their environment. After all, in times of climate crisis, no one wants to be a dodo.
Finch Buildings’ vision is to create a world where the built environment contributes to the solution rather than the problem. By reducing CO₂ emissions, Finch helps bring nature back into balance. Solid wood buildings provide a natural solution and offer a healthy living environment for both residents and the planet.
Finch Buildings develops wooden buildings with the lowest possible CO₂ footprint, both in production and use, without compromising design. As a circular company, Finch Buildings aims to transform the construction sector with circular and creative solutions. The buildings are modular and made from certified wood sourced from sustainably managed European forests. By building with wood, each module stores CO₂ captured during the tree’s growth, replacing polluting, CO₂-emitting materials like steel and concrete.
Since December 2022, Finch Buildings has rented several spaces in the Central Market Hall. They have gratefully embraced the original color palette of the Market Hall, giving the new, well-insulated spaces the ambiance of the past. For them, the Market Hall is an inspiring place due to its unique blend of history and innovation. The Market Hall’s vision of becoming a forward-thinking platform aligns well with Finch Buildings’ core values: sustainability and innovation.
Finch Buildings believes that the Central Market Hall will become an inspiring and vibrant place in the future, with amenities that contribute to a dynamic work environment. “We are excited about the possibilities and development of the Market Hall, and we look forward to being part of this growing community.”
Since its founding in 2014, Finch Buildings has completed over 800 homes in various projects across the Netherlands with high-quality prefab 3D modules. In doing so, the company has provided over 1,000 people with a healthy home and saved a remarkable 25,000 tons of CO₂.
