Please note it is a free event we, in return, request all visitors and participants to have a consumption at Markt Centraal. What do you need: a city bike, cross bike or mountain bike and helmet (helmets can also be borrowed). What are Dikke Banden Races? Dikke Banden Races are races for children (2-12 years old) on a city bike, mountain bike or cross bike (bike with thick tyres) and not a road bike. All participants register in advance. At the start, they receive a bib number, a Dikke Banden Race T-shirt and a medal afterwards. The course is cordoned off with fences, barrier tape, advertising banners and beach flags. At the start & finish there will be a jury booth with a speaker who will give an enhanced race report of the Dikke Banden Races. Around the course are traffic controllers and cheering crowds and fans. We try to give the feeling of a "real" race with the resources we have.
