Breaking, also known as breakdancing, is a dance style that originated in the 1970s and developed in the bustling block parties in the Bronx. It is characterised by acrobatic moves, clever footwork and is an integral part of hip-hop culture. During Breaking Crew Battles, talented dance crews challenge each other with spectacular moves and individual style, and these battles are the highlight of the event.

This first edition is a one-day event, but our ambition extends further. In the coming years, we want Amsterdam Breaking Championships to grow into a multi-day event with an international character, increasing the recognition and appreciation of Breaking on a global level.

The winner of the International Crew Battles will earn the very first title of the Amsterdam Breaking Championships. In addition, the NADB NK Breaking 1 on 1 takes place, where participants compete for the title of national champion.

With a total of €16,000 in prize money (!) at stake, this competition is a not-to-be-missed event for dancers and lovers of Breaking culture. Participants in the NK must be members of the NADB to compete.
